Annual Regatta rocks Ty’s

Hundreds of tourists and locals descended on the beloved island of Little Farmer’s Cay this past weekend for the annual Farmer’s Cay Regatta, with dozens of ships in harbor and the airstrip just outside Ty’s Sunset Bar & Grill resembling George Town International Airport.

Always the first weekend of February, the Farmer’s Cay Regatta is a special time.

For Bahamians, it is a time for family and loved ones to get together to eat, drink and catch up. For tourists, especially boaters, it is one of the biggest yachting events of the calender. It is widely known that Exuma is the boating capital of the Bahamas, and Farmer’s Cay Regatta is easily one of the biggest gatherings of boats for the archipelago.

Couples danced on the porch of Ty’s Sunset Bar & Grill. Children played beach volleyball and ran back and forth down the beach. And revelers ate delicious Bahamian food in the restaurant and kept the drinks flowing all weekend.

While Ty’s Sunset Bar & Grill was the place to be, there were several smaller parties throughout the island of Farmer’s Cay.

This regatta, year in and year out, is an authentic experience for any tourist looking for a private island party. If you didn’t make it this year, mark your calendars now!
